my experiences with God and life

in my head, zombie…

This post might be a little soon after my last short post, but I feel that it should be written.

The mind is a powerful organ in our body. It controls our biometrics, stores information and can adapt to new situations quickly. Some even say it houses our souls. Well, I’m sure evolutionists don’t think that…with the whole ‘soul’ thing (too much maybe?).

And yet we may give our minds too much credit. A man’s mind is still fallible because it operates in a vessel born into sin. And since our base is sin as humans due to original sin and the fall of man, it may use rational that is not in line with God. Be it to justify our reasoning for what we do that might not be right, to outright murder. Not saying that people follow through on every thought; more speaking to the fact that when we do, our minds try to rationalize it in some way to make any action seem correct. Case in point: Hustler.

In this case, others also rationalize that it’s ok for a person to buy any type of porn they want and pleasure themselves in any way because, “Hey, to each his own.” Our minds are powerful tools that are wasted on tolerance and rational relativism due to the disconnect between man and God.

I too know of the power of one’s mind since I find it too easy to daydream about such things as my future in terms of my fleshly desires. I have to force my mind to focus on God to make sure I don’t easily fall into some temptation and sin against God our Father. Recently, this has been too easy due to certain circumstances and my wants.

What I want to get across to you is that because of what you put into your mind and how it is used. A sinful mind easily falls into destruction and as we have all been born into sin, we must guard our minds as well as our hearts and think on God constantly. God calls us to meditate on Him and his word and I don’t think this is something you can easily do on the side. Especially in the world we live in where anything goes and whatever you do can be so easily accepted.

Separate me from the world, oh God, so that I may not fall into the snares and traps it has set on the path to you.
