multivitamins for the soul

I’m beginning to realize how important a multivitamin is in regards to my overal health and well-being. Recently, I did not take any vitamins for about two days. Two days later, I got a cold. This could be merely coincidence, but this will be the second time I have caught a cold after not taking my vitamins.

So kids, take your vitamins…

This in itself is odd, because I didn’t get sick as much (as far as I can remember) before I started taking multivitamins on a daily basis. Which begs to question if my immune system is depentent on all of the nutrients that are contained in one small pill. Your body does need these nutrients to live a healthy life, but did I really need them before if I felt perfectly fine? Of course I did, I just didn’t know it at the time.

The same goes for us as followers of Christ. Before we new Christ and lived by his words daily, we felt like we didn’t need Him. That life was all fine and dandy and we could handle stuff on our own. That our souls were healthy because we lived good lives. We were living in sin; our souls deprived of the nutrients of God and we felt like what God could offer might not make any difference.

Once we had been saved by the grace of our Almighty God and fed on His word and teachings daily, our immunity to sin began to grow. Our minds and spirits realized how sick we really were in the abcense of God, though we had no understanding of it before salvation. We began relying on Him for nutrients to feed our souls.

This is why we must constantly seek God in everything and live off His word. If we do not, we may yet succumb to the sickness and pain of sin. Missing a few days may mean the pain of giving into the flesh and sinning against God. We are not perfect in any way, but by the grace of God and our faith in Him, He helps us fight our colds and keep us healthy.And if we do fall into sickness and sin, relying on God will help us recover and get us back on the path quicker than if we try to do it alone.

Be thankful and give glory to Him because His bottle of multivitamins is unlimited.
